West End
United Reformed Church

In our support for those in need we try to 'walk together with Christ' and to show his love for all people.

The West End Refugee Service grew out of the response of West End church to the needs of asylum seekers who were being
sent to live in the area as part of the government's dispersal scheme in the 1990s. Our support for WERS is still an important
part of our witness to Christ's love in our community. As well as giving financial support to the hardship fund we prepare
'baby boxes' with hand-knitted clothes, small toys, nappies and other necessities which are given to clients with new babies.

Miriam Dean Fund

The Miriam Dean Fund is a small charity which funds projects for the some of the poorest people in other parts of the world.
Much of the work is for children, mostly in India and now also in Africa, and all the money we raise goes directly to the projects.

Christian Aid

We support the work of Christian Aid in giving, especially during Christian Aid week and at harvest time, and in prayer
throughout the year.
We also collect envelopes during Christian Aid Week from houses in the local area.

The West End Food Bank

The Newcastle West End Food Bank provides emergency food parcels for over 1,000 people each week. We collect dried and
canned foodstuffs at church which are then delivered weekly to the depot where they are gratefully received.
